Prayers needed

 

My future sister-in-law, Shelly Dwyer Davis has been a patient at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for two weeks. She looks like a healthy 42-year-old woman on the outside, but she's a ticking time bomb on the inside.

A month ago she was diagnosed with having a very large blood clot in a portal vein that goes to her liver, and two smaller blood clots going to her kidneys. Doctors suspect she's had the larger one for at least a year and other doctors misdiagnosed her and gave her a hysterectomy in March.

The conflict comes in when they try to give her blood thinners, she ends up bleeding out through her GI tract and as a result she's had many units of blood, at least 15. She's also had a stomach bypass surgery and they have done numerous tests to see where the bleeding is coming from but they are coming up blank.

They have a couple theories... that the bleeding may be coming from the part of the stomach that was bypassed, which is essentially a locked room or the other smaller veins are exploding and the blood is going into her stomach somehow.

On Wednesday they are doing a very risky procedure where they are going to make her bleed to see where it is coming from. If they can get to that part, they will fix it. If it's coming from her stomach, then they say there's nothing else they can do. They've done this procedure twice...one person died and one person did not.
